Tech news:

Michael Dell told Fortune magazine that he would be interested in becoming a switcher himself if the opportunity ever came up. “If Apple decides to open the Mac OS to others, we would be happy to offer it to our customers,” Dell wrote in an e-mail.
It’s a hypothetical reply to be sure, but Dell does relish the operating system diversity that his company provides. Dell ships its PCs exclusively with Microsoft Windows but does offer Red Hat Linux as well as Novell’s Suse Linux and NetWare in servers and some systems.

In a marketing tactic used primarily by spyware and adware companies, Google has begun bundling its Google Toolbar and Desktop Search software with the popular WinZip archive utility. Whether you use Skype for business or to connect with family and friends, now you can show a presentation, work on a spreadsheet, or share photos of your weekend fun while seeing everyone on the call!

Weaker than expected sales of the shuffles has market sources wondering what Samsung Electronics will do with the large proportion of NAND flash chips it has allotted for Apple, according to DigiTimes. The overseas publication, which keeps a close eye on Apple’s Taiwanese component suppliers and manufacturing partners, cites unnamed sources who say sales of the digital music player are not justifying the supply forecasts for NAND flash that Apple has secured from Samsung
