Google adds graphics to AdSense. Google has ‘christmas-fied’ their ads with very lightly colored backgrounds for their AdSense program. The background images are very faint and are christmas-themed. The ads feature wrapped presents and polar bears and runs until December 26.

Apple offers free TV. Apple has released a special feature from Sci-Fi called SciFi Inside: Battlestar Galactica. This behind the scenes featurette is 20 minutes in length showing some fun aspects of the hit TV show. Best of all, Apple is giving this out for free.

CNet releases the top-10 worst products of 2005. They look back over the past year and collected the 10 products that got the worst ratings of the year. None of them scored above 4. All of them hurt the hearts of their reviewers. Among items on the list are Roxio PhotoSuite 7 and the Fossil Wrist PDA.

Verizon Wireless expected to introduce a music download service. Coming next month, subscribers will be able to purchase music wirelessly over their mobile phones and transfer songs between their phones and Windows PCs. The new service, called V Cast Music, is scheduled to become available on Jan. 16 at Circuit City, Verizon Wireless stores and Verizon’s Web site. It would allow customers to browse, preview, download and play music from a mobile handset and a computer. The service is designed to offer songs from artists on major music labels, including Warner Music Group, EMI Music, Universal Music Group and Sony BMG. Verizon expects to offer more than a million songs by spring, the documents said.

Hack: Minimize Firefox to the system tray.

If you’re looking to clean up your taskbar there is a powerful firefox extension to minimize Windows versions of Firefox, Thunderbird, Mozilla Suite, and Nvu to the system tray.

The extension is called MinimizeToTray and features tray menus via a right mouse click. MinimizeToTray provides quick access to many of Firefox and Thunderbird’s most used features. For Firefox, easily view your Downloads or open a new browser window. For Thunderbird, compose new messages and view your Address Book while keeping it minimized all day to check for new mail.

This extension has quick and flexible minimizing options. MinimizeToTray always allows you to send Firefox or Thunderbird to the tray by right-mouse clicking on the minimize button, or by choosing “File => Minimize to Tray” from the menu, or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+M from the keyboard. With the extension options, you can force the application to always minimize to the tray instead of the taskbar by selecting the checkbox inside the extension’s options, restore using a single or double click, or minimize the application on close.
