New Super Mario Bros Wii hits big in Japan: bricks record, collects coin
by Alexander Sliwinski { 3 hours ago }
Old-school Mario is news again as New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold at Sonic-speed throughout its Japanese launch last week. Andriasang reports that the platformer sold 422,000 copies in its first day (December 3), with Famitsu following up that NSMB Wii moved 936,734 units by Sunday, December 6, its “first week” at retail, stomping the previous week-one sales record held by Super Smash Bros. Brawl (816k).

AT&T’s new iPhone app conveys your disappointment in real time
By Joseph L. Flatley posted Dec 7th 2009 10:55AM
OK, so the bigwigs at AT&T and Verizon have learned to make nice (for the time being at least), but what’s a hapless iPhone user to do about dropped calls and other network problems? The AT&T Mark The Spot app offers long-suffering (or even the intermittently bedeviled) customers the ability to ping their carrier in real time, with location-specific feedback, should one experience a coverage crisis. To begin registering your gripes, hit the source link and download away!

Boxee Box coming Q2 2010, D-Link revealed as hardware partner
By Ross Miller posted Dec 7th 2009 8:41PM
Like a good one-two punch, now that Boxee Beta has been unveiled, here comes a glimpse of the company’s first hardware unit, the Boxee Box. D-Link takes the honors of being the inaugural hardware partner and Astro the designer. The Box, more like a submerged cube, boasts HDMI, SD card slot, two USB 2.0 ports, WiFi, and ethernet for old school internet connectivity. Unfortunately, we don’t know at this point what’s powering it under the hood, but we’re hoping that NVIDIA collaboration on the beta software might suggest some Ion here. Target release sometime in the second quarter of 2010 for about $200.
